The news was further then confirmed by Raonic’s spokesperson, Austin Nunn who has acknowledged that Raonic will be undergoing surgery but has also shed light that the procedure will only be to repair the nerve as there is no physical damage to the foot.
“That’s the good news. The bad news is, every single time (he steps) it literally feels like he’s stepping on a tack or jellyfish, is the equivalent,” Nunn said. “He’s pushed through it. That’s why this week it looked like he was grimacing almost every single time he was stepping — because he was.”
As far as the French Open is concerned, Nunn confirmed that Raonic plans on playing at Roland Garros and will only miss Rome because the surgery can only be performed during this week due to the unavailability of the doctor.
“He is trying to get ready to play the French Open,” Nunn said. “Rome is unfortunately just when the surgery can be done. We’re cutting it really close,”French Open is set to begin from the May 24th.
