Rafa's best bet to get back into the swing of things:


1. start working harder on fitness now and not later


2. get back on clay ASAP after Wimbledon. that means more match play and practice on clay before heading on to the north American hard court circuit.


he has no chance to get back into the game if does not do this.


gaining a few points at Wimbledon and at the u.s. open is completely meaningless if he cant improve his fitness and his game.


I don't see what purpose trying to make the WTF in London serves. only thing it will do is expose him to injury.

if you cant win because you dont have sufficient fitness and game then getting to London is meaningless. if you dont bring enough fitness, game, and intensity, and focus then it will start to get a lot harder.


window is closing rapidly now. he has to decide how bad he wants this.


as for time off from the sport, well he has nothing but time off with all those long setbacks. there has been plenty of time for poker, golf, fishing, and now the tennis academy.


no top player has ever been consumed with all these other outside activities. they all wait until they retire to start tennis academies.

lendl and others took of golf and other outside activities after they retired.


if you are still in the sport and competing and battling on the front lines, it serves absolutely zero purpose to keep getting your head bashed in by the players that you owned for nearly a decade.



wake up rafa. compete and fight to win. bring your game, fitness, intensity, and focus to the sport and show them who you are.
