agreed. and there is no competing with Robert Redford anyway. he was perfect for the role in that original movie.
I just vaguely remembered that I had seen this version with RR. Golly! Leonardo does have the charm but as I've mentioned before, he has problems getting out of his own character first let alone be someone else. Robert Redford has one too many good movies under his belt. I really think The Way We Were was one of his best.
For some reason this reminded me of Cary Grant and perhaps because of his somewhat similar movie, An Affair to Remember. I also really liked Carry Grant in North by Northwest. One of Hitchcock's best. We can list of the characters we liked in movies. I have tons.
"the way we were" was a superb movie.
redford is in a class his own. he worked with paul newman in "butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". that is also one of his better known movie.
I never saw "north by northwest" but I do know that cary grant was an immense talent.
was it cary grant who worked with princess grace of Monaco in that old movie that was shot in paris?
was it called "it takes a thief" or something? I do recall seeing that one a few years ago.
North by Northwest is your classic action comedy. Hitchcock at this best needless to say. He had talent at every genre of film he'd ever made.
Grace, The Princess of Monaco was actually Grace Kelly the actress originally. She married into that royal crap when she was seeing a lot of success. She retired from acting after marriage and saw a tragic death at age 53. She was famous for Rear Window, Dial M etc. And it's not called "it takes a their" lol. but it's called To Catch a Thief. lol
Anyway, very beautiful person inside out.
