Free Spirits
In his eyes I see a child at play,
Hunting dragons on a Summer’s day.
Clutching rainbows in the palm of his hand,
He makes his stand.
Jewels scattered throughout a patchwork land,
Fireflies of light in the velvet night,
A blazing torch from a dream-touched eye,
Free spirits shine.
[chorus]
Horizons are wider, fires burn brighter,
Souls that are searching for something beyond,
And the shores of Ithaca call them on,
And the shores of Ithaca call them on.
Drawn as a moth to a burning flame,
Pulled like the sea to the farthest shore,
I believe in his quest, knowing he is
Born to fly high.
His wings stretch out to the dawn’s first breeze.
My heart soars with him in new found flight,
The dragon is slain, glory is won,
Dream realized.
[bridge]
The beauty of flight so wide and free,
Pierces my soul with steel destiny.
The bird soaring high in the azure sky
Doesn’t look down, leaves me behind.
Horizons are wider, fires burn brighter,
Souls that are searching for something beyond,
And the shores of Ithaca call them on,
And the shores of Ithaca call them on.
