Usually Ferrer is known for his flashy winners from both sides, but he's being unusually consistent today... Almost like a grinder.

well I guess it's a good loss if there is such a thing.

now nadal will just have to close the deal on #1 at WTF if he wants it bad enough.

he will learn from this and try to improve.

It is a good loss and a tank job. There's no point for him to play Djokovic and take another loss before WTF or even AO. Nadal is a player of confidence and I am sure he feels Nole is his main rival. Both crucial for his confidence in order to keep it alive and running.

Had Federer won the match to vs Nole, I am sure Nadal would have made the final too.

Speaking of Federer vs Nole - it was the first match I was able to see in Paris this year and the court looked really slow. I would have thought it was slightly faster than this. In fact, Paris has always been a fast indoor court.

agreed. those surfaces in Beijing and shanghai looked a lot faster.

now the only question is this:

does ferru have any chance at all in the final?

by the way these same 2 matches are happening again in London in 3 days.

nole will take on federer and nadal has to deal with ferru again.

I have no idea how nadal feels about this loss obviously but it may turn out to be good loss if it motivates him and fuels his intensity in London.

he has to win on Tuesday if he wants the number one rank.

The best thing about Ferrer is that, he always bring his best and stays supremely consistent. So obviously he's not going to hand it to Nole on a silver plate. The other side of it is that, no matter what Ferrer has to offer, Nole has so much more to offer. And after coming this close beating Isner, Wawrinka and Federer today, he sure is not going to give up now against a player like Ferrer. Ferrer neither has the belief nor the game. Besides, he'll be too convinced thinking today that he's really beaten Nadal, so he might just be a bit overwhelmed by that come tomorrow. He needs to beat Nadal on a consistent basis to prove a point. If he can beat Nadal again this Tuesday at WTF, perhaps then he may have a case. Otherwise I wouldn't read too much into this loss or Ferrer's performance.

I believe that Ferrer can win at least a set tomorrow. Nole was pretty bad for a set and a half against Fed today. Who knows which Nole will show up tomorrow.

ferru can win but not if nole serves like a demon and returns even bigger.

that will be too much to overcome.

nole has to have an off day for ferru to win.
