herc or Slasher, is it possible to have the left column (where it has the Members, Stats, Users etc.) across the board at the top of page? That way we don't have to scroll right and also, it would look nice and neat. Isn't that the way other forums are?

Anyway, I am not sure if I should be demanding so much on my 2nd post here. :p

herc, I got your PM last night  but since I thought I was going to be here today, so I'd reply here. As to the first one, I was thinking about things and also wanted to see where things were going as it all seemed quite unsettled. I believe you could have handled the matter better but at the same time, I could also see why you'd be so angry. There's no point making you and Javi the mod and not give you any real power. that really and truly defeats the purpose. Also, that meant they didn't trust you enough. And the deal they offered later after all hooplas had the freedom of much less moderation but it came at the expense of the Castle taking a backseat and that didn't make any sense. They could have left it at the front page and called it Frontier Castle Chat or something. That way they could have maintained their own brand and the Castle would have had its own identity.

The idea of a Castle is a very open and it needs all its freedom to fully exercise its all possibilities but unfortunately, it just wasn't there from the get go. I wish Owen could see that and had a better conversation with both tented and Moxie. That way I am sure we would have all had something that would have made everyone happy. But alas, that probably wasn't meant to be.

I was personally very disturbed when Slasher's post re: a poster's death at MTF got deleted. I was quoting his post  at that time to show my condolences, but I couldn't do it only to realize a minute later that the original post was deleted right away. That felt inhuman. How can you not allow the news of a poster who had just died? There are some things in life where the news should be spread right away so that we cal all show our respect and this news was one of them. I found it as extreme moderation almost cult like. However I don't feel at all either Owen or tented are mean spirited people or anything; quite the contrary in fact, but it just came out in dead wrong manner. Yes, we have rules that we need to obey but we are also human beings so we should know better as to how to use our discretion.

In any case, I don't have any bitter feelings towards anyone or anything. I just later thought it was never meant to be and sounded too good to be true from the start. We all still have a lot to learn.

I am not sure how to fix that emma.

truth be told, that is a home made forum.
a lot of those are completely free on the net and vast majority of them have no appeal. there are constraints and there are severe limitations to those type of forums.


 it is also an extremely clickish crowd. and they tend to hang out with each other at their tennis discussion page 99% of the time.



they did not really care about us at the castle. moxie and tented avoided it and so did 99% of their mods.

I made it clear to baron when I got there that it was up to us and all the locals there and all the global mods there to set an example of personally meeting and greeting folks when they arrived at the castle. it told him it would start a trend. people like to be noticed and spoken to.

well it did not happen. baron was the only one and its because I kept asking him to meet and greet new people at the castle when they arrived.

betty was extremely upset one morning. she sent me a pm and said that she was sick and tired of being so blatantly ignored there.



I don't think it was going to work emma. sooner or later it would have ended there anyway.

I have known a lot of those people for a long time. vast majority of them do not care about me.



it is what it is. I am not going to lose any sleep over it.


we live and learn and we move on. we adapt and we evolve. we will never be able to please the whole world.




it was fun in the beginning because most new things can be fun and are fun if we just have the capacity to just let them be fun.

and the upside seemed interesting since we were starting from ground zero. one has to be optimistic about things in life.


I had a feeling that their indifference and their constant meddling and endless propensity to be all controlling would inhibit our enterprise sooner or later.

and so it happened.



anyway I have some ideas. we start from scratch here and we just hang on for our opportunity for a really cool forum with some commercial appeal.

those who stick with us and help us build a little bit will be stars at our next forum.


and we will let the gutless cowards run since they never were really with us in the first bloody place.

well I don't think the door is closed forever lady emma.

first of all as you know, baron still welcomes us there with open arms.


we will let some time pass first and foremost.
and then we will look at our various options.

in the mean time, we do have our own place. there were really just a few of us at the castle there anyway.

and as you know we are all so busy during the day. we only tend to relax at a cool, calm, quiet forum in the evenings when we can.



here you are a global moderator already. see how easy it would have been. all they had to do was restore my and javi`s quiet leadership at the castle and let it roll for a while.

we brought baron what he was craving for. we brought him some growth.


even general masterclass made  this point: he said that some leadership at least in principle was important at the castle.


I just wanted my name and javi`s name at the top as mods because to many people it represents and safety and security.


we are not and never have been power hungry mods. it was to be just a symbolic thing.

and it also means that a few more people would have come our way.



I like Kieran a lot too. he posted with us a little bit at the castle.


we can ask him to stop by here once in a while and say hello.

baron also said he will stop by and say hello.

we wont do anything to hurt their forum in any way.


baron is a class act.

and so is of course Kieran.

poor Hewitt. I hear he used to be tough as nails.

he was the youngest world #1 a few years back. I think he made #1 at age 19.

he is not so poor however. he has built quite an empire for himself.
