Yeah, that was odd. I thought Andy would defend this title, but he had a bad day at the office too. Dmitrov played well, though.

Rafa owns tennis history and he has carved out his immortality in the sport 100 times over. his records are impossible to even approach, let alone break.

and yet all some people can do is take cheap shots at him.

Darren cahill did come around a little bit the other day: he said he will never bet against Rafa at RG again.

cahill had picked nole to win RG.

but cahill does not really take cheap shots at Rafa. many others do and it is not fair.

Yeah, I don't like people taking cheap shots. I wouldn't like it if it was me, so I'm not OK with it for others either.

I have no clue. Raonic would have to have a really good day, but he could be spurred on by Eugenie's fight. I still think Federer will take it.

Novak is slip-sliding all over the place, I don't know if it's real, or for dramatic effect with him trying to channel shades of Becker. However, I think Nole will take Dmitrov, because he's too consistent and he'll be on alert.

So, I think it will be a Novak-Federer final. For some reason, Novak seems to be intimidated by Federer and often makes a lot of errors when he plays him, but I think that he might be super motivated to win and if he comes out as no-nonsense, I think he will take it.

No. Milos has the big serve as a weapon and a bit of composure, but he does not have his tactics down. His movement can always be exploited by a more skillful player. He is, in effect a more mobile Karlovic. I remember he played a great match a couple of years ago and he was very composed in that match. After that, the commentators went overboard and I don't remember seeing him play as well within himself since.

Kvitova was amazing! I was so glad she won. Chris Evert said Friday she thought Genie would take it. I was like what? No way. Did she even watch the Petra vs. Venus match? Petra had been hitting lasers the entire two weeks. Genie hadn't faced anyone like that. If Cornet hadn't been under a fog after her big win over Serena, I think she would have taken Genie out.

Anyway, I was happy for several reasons, because Genie and her coach are a bit too cocky. First with his usurping of Maria. Now, I'm not a Maria fan (at all), but she has earned her position in the game, it's up to Genie to do the same, but not announce that I'm the new kid on the block, move over."

Then Saviono giving her no Plan B talking about it's all about Genie. I thought is he crazy? You need to know your opponent's tendencies and what to do if you're not making headway. So that was bad advice.

Genie is a good player, I don't know about great, that remains to be seen, but so far she isn't there yet, and they need to let her get there before having this supreme confidence, which IMO, at this point, is not warranted.

Congrats to Genie for a great tournament, and a big thumbs up to Petra who was simply awesome.

Petra just has too much fire power. she is tall and strong and has massive leverage off the ground.

bouchard got overpowered and out muscled by Petra.

Bochard is young so this will be a great learning experience for her.

congrats also to Popsicle (yes he is Canadian too) and jack sock (American) on their first grand slam title.

what an awesome achievement.

Canadian tennis is on the rise and I am happy for them.

True. Genie is a good player, but I wish they would let her learn how to handle her success. I don't want to see a repeat of what happened to Sloane Stephens last year. Remember how she was the "it" girl last year, and now her name is rarely brought up. They're inundating this Genie instead of letting her mature on the court.

I still think Genie will win one, she seems too determined not too, but if they start all that modeling and endorsements it will be hard to turn it down.

I didn't know Pospisil and Sock won the title. Did they beat the Bryan Bros.? If so, that's awesome.

Yeah, Raonic didn't seem to handle the occasion too well. Fed was all over him like a cheap suit before he could get his bearings.

Who do you think will win the final?

I'm going to go with Federer since he's a better grass player. Novak has been slip-sliding all over the place.

Here's to a good match. Both of them have so much on the line.

What a battle today.

It could have gone either way lady TT.

The battled away for 4 hours.

There was hardly difference in terms of total points won by each player.

This will become an instant classic.

What a final it was! Filled with drama and momentum swings. Great tennis!

So, Mr.Tee is now 3/4 on his "bold predictions for 2014" made before the season:

1. Nole will not defend AO. Check.
2. Grigor will reach the QF of a Slam. Check
3. Federer will reach the final of a Slam. Check

So, the only prediction left is that Rafa will win 2 Slams this year.

So, bring on the US Open
