and even harder on the WTA side. I still cant believe that serena, venus, and sharapova are gone.

Kvitova was amazing! I was so glad she won. Chris Evert said Friday she thought Genie would take it. I was like what? No way. Did she even watch the Petra vs. Venus match? Petra had been hitting lasers the entire two weeks. Genie hadn't faced anyone like that. If Cornet hadn't been under a fog after her big win over Serena, I think she would have taken Genie out.

Anyway, I was happy for several reasons, because Genie and her coach are a bit too cocky. First with his usurping of Maria. Now, I'm not a Maria fan (at all), but she has earned her position in the game, it's up to Genie to do the same, but not announce that I'm the new kid on the block, move over."

Then Saviono giving her no Plan B talking about it's all about Genie. I thought is he crazy? You need to know your opponent's tendencies and what to do if you're not making headway. So that was bad advice.

Genie is a good player, I don't know about great, that remains to be seen, but so far she isn't there yet, and they need to let her get there before having this supreme confidence, which IMO, at this point, is not warranted.

Congrats to Genie for a great tournament, and a big thumbs up to Petra who was simply awesome.
