Well, that is only 1 year more than what I thought. Wonder how old that is for an elite athlete. I know top basketball players are even in their late 30's. How old was Jimmy Connors when he was still more or less at the top?.

Yeah, I was glad that he won too. He needed to get a title under his belt. I agreed with the commentators that he was at about 70%, but Rafa can make up the distance pretty quickly sometimes. He's still a far cry away from Fed, Andy, and Nole, but these things come with time.
His net skills were on point today.
Wow, Fed spanked Novak today. What is the deal with those two? Is it me, or does Nole seem intimidated by Federer? He makes so many errors when he plays Federer and I think it's psychological. Fed hasn't always treated him so kindly in the past and I think that has stayed with Novak. In a strange way, people like that tend to "respect" those who disdain them and disdain those who respect them. That's my take anyway.
Really?, I'd say Rafa was pretty close to his best overall. I doubt he wanted to win the final 6-1 6-1 anyway. About Fed, he's 32, right?. I don't think that's THAT old really. Still pretty much prime physically I'd say. I think his fans have overstated his decline to explain away his loses to Rafa (I mean, they insist he's been on decline since he was 26 ffs, because he lost the Wimbledon final to Rafa). I was reading the other day that he actually had a better W/UE ratio in the Wimbledon final in 2014 than in 2007 or 2008.

Hi Maria!, gee, your post is from almost a year ago. Will you believe me I hadn't seen it?. It was 5 years from the earthquake yesterday. Thank you very much for your good wishes That AO final was one of the toughest moments of his career for sure, and for us as fans too. Injuries have taken so much from his career. But he's strong and we can trust he will do his best every time to come back. And his good is pretty good. How great was Rafa today btw?. I'm feeling in a very good mood

Long time indeed! I had been meaning to come for a log time, but I'm a procrastinator I'm afraid. You'll be seeing me around more, I promise! Will check the Horse Nation for sure. When I lived in the south some years ago we rented a house which had a horse in the "backyard" which was a big hill. Sometimes other horses were there too, they were all really lovely. One once got a bit inside the house and there wasa no way we could move her even a milimeter lol. I see Andy won already!, damn, I was thinking the match was going to be today for some reason. Oh well, glad for Andy, how did he play?. Who do you guys favour in a final?.

Wow The Truth, I'm very surprised too to see Berdy leads the h2h against Andy. Still, seeing how Andy played against Kyrgios I don't think Berd has much of a chance. He was brilliant.
Are you really so dissappointed about Rafa's loss CD?, I'm sure it's not lack of motivation from Rafa, I've seen nothing to indicate that. I am frustrated that he has to keep missing tournaments due to injury and then having to go through the process of coming back, missing cnahces that way too... we know Rafa's a very optimistic person, but this must weight on his too sometimes at least.

From the quotes I've seen, it seemed like it was Lendl who wanted to dedicate himself to playing on the seniors tour.
Curious how in the article it's mentioned he planned to enjoy his time off the leash but there's no actual quote that I see.
Now, it does seem to me Andy's a very independent person, he went to live alone to Spain when he was what, 15?, so who knows how well he can get along with someone who's too dominating (not that I know if Lendl was).
I doubt the split is good for him. I was shocked to hear about it for sure.
