Darkness overshadowed the bright light
Trembling from the sheer exertion of running up the hill
From that glow that touched your Achilles heel
Not a part of any imagination
For it wasn’t just a touch
It was a scratch so deep that the slight bleed left it’s tattoo on the sneaker
Heart beating like it was about to burst from the rib cage
The whistling sound elevated the fear factor
It was still new moon
Strained to see a pathway
Stumbling as each step felt uncertain
Gulping in air that constricted the throat
A numbness was spreading through the limbs causing a misstep
Coolness of the air also made the neck hair stand to attention
Growl escaped clenched teeth from the fear that griped the throat
Unknown was starting to play a psychological game
The prey was being preyed upon
The dark just made it harder to think with clarity
Scream was bubbling as a cold slimey touch
Grabbed the right ankle
Causation falling face down into mud while scraping hands and knees
Scrambling to get up
Screaming and kicking out of the binding
Fear is bursting the rib cage and hearts about to burst
Feeling the pounce of something furry
The growl within the ear shot
Ready to die an early death
