Thanks for the concern and well wishes everyone.
My mother is fine. They were evacuated the night before and spent the night and day inshore, of course only wondering what had happened to their place near the ocean beach. They were fortunate that there was no real damage and were able to get back in late Friday. Thankfully in their area the Cat 4 hurricane at the time was just off the coast enough to not have more impact, and it also departed rather quickly so the heavy rains did not last too long, so there was not a major surge or flooding in their area. The barrier island dunes blocked most of the ocean water. They were more fortunate than the folks farther North.
Well, these are the issues when one lives near the coasts in the SouthEast USA, as General Clay Death well knows. Surviving their fury and dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes is a part of life.
Kind regards,
