Sun shines brightly through
The clouds reminding us
That summer has evolved
So many months of constant rain
Has many of us downtrodden
Flooding has been the city's strain
Beaches are under water
As waves lap against the boardwalk
Walking through the grassy knolls
Of the parks as tiny ponds
Created by the earthly crevice
Muck + mire has been the
Daily attire of my trainers
I've enjoyed the surprising rainbows
On the rare occasion where the rain
Is warm to the touch as it sprinkling
Down for the sun filled skies
My eye has captured the brightness
Of two rainbows side by side
Reminding me that miracles can
Certainly happen to change the tide
It's summer in the big city
Thankfully loving the lack of humidity
Making my nightly quest to roam
The streets cooler with a slim
Summer breeze
Welcoming my power walk
Relief of the slight zephyrs ease
