His last 12 hours
We’re the hardest 12 ever
Judgement the cruelest
As every whip, every pain written across his body
Etched and deeper than any tattoo
Scourged and caused to bleed feverishly
Needing to watch Him cry in ultimate pain
Every strike on his body echoed the hate
The evil they needed to point blame and despicable angry hate
Reveling in each cry with twisted joy
Blood flying from every wound
Drowning in the echoes of his cries
Vicious in the attempt
Contemptuous in every raising of the arm
To land and cause the harshest of pain
Scourged to the degree that his body cried blood
Blood with every breathe
Blood with every word of forgiveness
Forgive them for they know not what they do
God please forgive me for all the pain I have caused
I forgive all those that tore at me
Nothing compared to the pain received by our Lord Jesus Christ
The pain that still echoes thousands of years later
Annually we go through the rebirth
Unbeknownst as to why we just don’t get it
The love God has given us over and over
And we continue to cause pain
Not paying attention to the lessons
Not paying attention
Not at all
