Britbox Brain Teasers - Exercise for the Mind.

Today's brain teaser for the House of Camelot:

A clump of weeds doubles in size each day.
In 40 days, the clump of weeds will cover the entire garden.

Question :
In how many days will the garden be half covered with the clump of weeds?

Today's Brain Teaser for the House of Camelot:

If it takes 5 machines 5 minutes to make 5 widgets, how long would it take 100 machines to make 100 widgets?

I've got a couple for you.

1. How do you divide 12 by 2 & get 7 without adding 1? It is possible. There may be a trick to it.

2. You're in a 10 ft. x 10 ft. steel room with no doors or windows. All there is in this room is a table & a saw. How do you get out?

Never been good at brain teasers. Hate taking the time to think about it. Why does it take 5 minutes instead of one minute? Don't they make one widget a minute?  ???.

The answers are

1. XII is 12 in Roman Numerals. If you divide anything by 2 you half it. If you take the bottom 1/2 off XII you're left with VII which is 7 in Roman Numerals.

2. You saw the table in 1/2. 2 halves make a w(hole) you crawl through.

It takes one machine 5 minutes to make a widget.

If you have five machines lined up and they start at the same time then they are making a widget each in those five minutes.  5 widgets in total are made.

if you have hundred machines lined up and they start at the same time then are making a widget each in those five minutes. 100 widgets in total.

... but all in five minutes.

I'm glad you like No. 1 Britbox. I heard No. 2. I liked it but thought it was a bit "outside the box" & not realistic.
