Congrats to Djokovic and his fans for his second title of the year in sweeping the USA slow hard court spring series.
Commiserations to Nadal and his supporters.
Djokovic played very well, with no real blips, served and returned well, and kept the balls deep. His backhand was superb today, and he hit it with good disguise. Rafa often didn't know where it was going. Nole's game and confidence looks well set up prior to the clay season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him take a couple of titles.
Nadal's return was pretty poor, quite short and his second serve was not effective at all. He was playing 90 % of his shots from behind the baseline, and played Djokovic's backhand too much and gave Djokovic too much angle to hit his cross court backhand wide to Nadal's forehand, which Nadal often couldn't reach because he was protecting his backhand side and failed to read Djokovic's backhand well. I think the good news for Nadal fans is that Nadal got off the court fairly quickly, not having a prolonged battle on the slow hard courts and hopefully got out of Miami without additional injury.
Nadal has to get on the clay and start preparing as soon as possible. I would say a Monte Carlo win is essential for his confidence now.

Respectfully,
