Guys, it is absolutely logical that a site administrator can look into the database and see anything stored there, including PMs. This is true for any internet forum there is. There is one private thing that an admin cannot do, and that is see the passwords.

But also note that nobody is abusing this system (except maybe on MTF) because nobody cares about other people's privacy. Only an admin can see the PMs, and in Alex' case, Scott read the PM AFTER it was reported by Nekro for being abusive as it really was. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Slasher, with all due respect, you can't afford to be so naive. People share a lot of personal stuff through their PMs. I've gone back and forth with a lot of posters since 2008 at T4U and a lot of these people have shared a lot of personal stuff with me. No one should have access to these PMs even Admin. An Admin is after all a human being therefore, can never be fully trusted. If they are interested in a particular poster, they will look into their PMs rest assured. I can bet that this has been done in my case. Alex talked about 3 different times about this 'behind the stuff' when he was going at me. Not only that, he mentioned it twice after he was cornered and was asked to explain his erratic behavior. I've had only a few PMs exchanged with Alex over the years and all to wish him well since he was suffering from this or that all the time. So what could he have possibly been referring to? Not only that, I've always had a sneaky feeling about it and in fact, one of Scot's particular comments at me made me wonder about things. Anyway, because of this feeling I was having, I decided to delete all my PMs and I did. Unfortunately, there are still a few left as I left T4U abruptly and I haven't gone back to reply those. In any case, I am fairly sure my PMs are not in a safe place and given that I am a very private person, I absolutely loath the idea that an Admin has access to even PMs. Having no access to password means nothing when you can access the whole database. This is one of the reasons why I hate being on the forums these days.

This is also the reason why I tell some specific people, people I know I'd be going back and forth for a while, to email me directly. Just a few weeks ago I'd asked herc to email me directly and not use T4U. I've done it with some posters I've been long time friends with. It matters to me their secrets are safe with me and vice versa.
