I could not agree more. nadal managed to have perhaps his finest year since 2010. it all worked out but now his greed is getting the best of him again.
he did this in 2008: he played and won more matches on the hard courts than anyone alive in 2008. it netted him the Australian open in 2009 then it rendered him useless for a year.
so that is one year gone from his very prime. and in the process he did untold damage to his knee and his joints.
bottom line: he has lost at least 2 years of his prime years because of his madness and his greed.
I would forget about the damn #1 ranking and just save myself for 2014.
what nadal achieved this year is far more than just sick. it is ridiculous at best after that 7 month layoff. nobody ever expected it.
his style of play is not easy. it is the most demanding style there is.
he is taking way too much risk right now.
