Valid reasons as to why I started it in the first place.
So many inconsistencies in this world.

This has very much to do with my incredible journey with my insurance.

The story is long
I understand...fated to the degree that lessons from this occurrence in my life...vast.

To the point where it makes my skin crawl.

There is a huge part of me that just wants this to end. But thats what big insurance wants. When they **** up and leave you hanging and in a lurch.

Their claims that they have your back. Years of paying insurance only to have them completely exacerbate the situation.

My first claim ever.

House insurance.  Just after the ice storm of 2013.
Clearly and definitively stating, on multiple occasions that this is my FIRST claim. First. Never crossed this prior to this example.
Years of owning a home. Ensuring that upkeep and maintenance maintained.

The devastation of last and final touches of repainting and redecorating my beautiful home to welcome, at the time. New tenants. As well as looking forward to my new venture.


All went down the drain, as pipes burst.  Weeks later, unbeknownst to me. I DID NOT KNOW that radiators can explode.

Pipes were handled on an, as it happened. Took care of it. Not me of course. People who know how to replace pipes that burst. (Though i admit, being there and observing all of the goings on, I too, have learned a thing or two)

While the pipes burst, I was optimistic, that we repair. Clean up the water and move forward.

On hand. And taking care of the needs of the home.

Until 3 weeks later when I thought all was operational.
The radiator burst. I called the insurance claims department.

A radiator exploded. The vast amount of water of the radiator on the third floor, now rain and drained through all floors. Newly painted walls and ceilings, to watch water flow through each floor. Damaging everything I had worked on, the last 3 months.

Watching it dissolve. Watching water flow through electrical light fixtures. The disappointment incredible and in disbelief as the first train of action was to capture water not to destroy the floors.

But water cannot be contained. When the water explodes. It seeks its own crevices. Uncaring about newly painted and decorated home. Uncaring about the devastation that followed and will happen again. Capturing vast amounts of water in multiple garbage bins, pails, pots.

Finally, in all of this devastation. Calling the insurance.
Never contacted them before. The copper pipes that had burst had been replaced.

The radiator was a complete devastation.
So the call was made.

The removal of the radiator.

Next stop the visit from the adjuster.

As I have stated. Will continue to state. My first claim.

I thought my insurance would be out.

Due to the increasingly high volume of destruction throughout the greater Toronto area ...many homes were in the freezing power outage of 1 day to 9 days .

Historical evidence through all the news outlets

Freezing trees folding from the pressure of the ice storm. Broken trees cascading down the now defunct power lines.

Every neighbourhood. Some issue.

Some areas were but a quick flash. Other areas in the dark. All prior to Christmas.

Lessons.


I would like to thank.

The city officials, all the hydro workers, the EMT, the fire department, the police department. All emergency crews. (Many out there, plumbers, electricians, arbourists the list is long)

The insurance companies that did help.

Mine. Being overwhelmed. Dropped the ball.
Left me hanging in a lurch that caused further damage in the waiting game. That would soon turn out to be the blaming game.

Outside adjuster. Overwhelmed. She offered advice. She played a game. And when she **** up with me  blamed me .

Exhausting story of my insurance

They sub contracted to another firm of adjusters

(Yeah, sub contracted may not be the "official" terminology)

That is what Aviva Canada did.

They did it to help their clients.

I am aware of that.

They did it, because this was larger than the city, it hit the surrounding boroughs. Greater Toronto area was crippled.

Right ....so 6 months after putting in a claim. I received an emergency check in Mid June 2014
Jan 2014 i called in the claim.

Lawyers of opposition.

Why??

6 months after the fact.

No emergency help offered ...no they did not come in to do the emergency work as they were supposed to...as I found out months later. Something that should have been offered.

6 years. And I am dealing with them
Still.

With a lawyer.... smh

Yeah....a few days away from seven years.
This is disturbing beyond anything at all.
Mistreatment from the start.
